LEED Today and Tomorrow: Sustainable Sites
When the LEED rating system was launched 20 years ago, it was with a bold mission—to transform buildings and spaces to be more sustainable, healthy and resilient, benefiting all species. LEED has made a tremendous impact over the years, affecting plans, policies and practices at all scales. There is still much work to be done, though, and at USGBC we are continually looking into the future and asking how LEED can respond to potential scenarios.
In this interview series, I had the opportunity to speak with our technical experts, who work each day with LEED Technical Advisory Groups and other industry experts to improve the rating systems—all in an effort to speed along USGBC’s vision of sustainable communities for all.
Here’s what we talked about in our second podcast, about the Sustainable Sites credit category:
- What about sites is key to the future of LEED?
- How can LEED have a greater impact with sites?
- How is LEED v4.1 driving the future in regard to sustainable sites?
- What is an example of a project that is representing where we want to go with the future of LEED?
- What are strategies that green building professionals can implement today?
- What sites-related careers will support the future of green building?
